Do People Tell You That You Look Stressed?
We Have Solutions

Cosmetic Injectables

Why opt only to whiten your teeth or to obtain a new smile with porcelain veneers when you can have a full smile and face makeover? As part of our comprehensive cosmetic dentistry services at Paddington Dentistry, our dentists now proudly offer anti-wrinkle and dermal filler injectables to complete your new look.

Anti-wrinkle injectables can reduce or even eliminate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, giving patients an overall more youthful appearance, and improving self-confidence in social and professional interactions.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections target the muscles we use every day when concentrating, smiling, frowning and squinting by gently relaxing them. They can reduce the appearance of:

  • Angry 11 (vertical lines between the eyebrows)woman smiling | Paddington NSW Dentist
  • Forehead furrows
  • Crow’s feet
  • Frown or cranky lines
  • Bunny lines around the nose

Contrary to popular belief, anti-wrinkle injections do not cause frozen face or keep you from expressing yourself. Your dentist will start with a gentle dose and measure your reaction to maximise the effects while protecting the function of the muscles.

Non-invasive anti-wrinkle injections result in little downtime, and you can return to work or your next social event straight away. Common side effects include mild redness and bruising, which usually resolves within one to three days. To allow the medication to penetrate the muscles effectively, avoid exercise or lying down for several hours after your procedure.

It will take a week for the medication to fully take effect. Results are temporary and generally last between three and six months when it becomes necessary to re-treat the areas you wish to keep smooth and youthful.

Headache and Jaw Pain Treatment

The same medication we use in anti-wrinkle injections can relax tense muscles in the jaw and face, reducing teeth grinding (bruxism) forces and relieving the muscle tension that causes headaches. They can relieve:

  • Teeth clenching and grinding
  • TMJ (jaw joint) symptoms
  • Headaches, migraines and facial tension

Patients who use computers or mobile devices regularly report greater relief and relaxation throughout the day. Injectables have also shown notable results in patients who are managing TMJ dysfunction.

Dermal Filler Injectables

As the skin ages, it loses volume due to reduced collagen production. To correct deep grooves that appear as a result of the ageing process, we can use dermal fillers to plump up the skin.

Common treatment sites include:

  • Marionette lines around the mouth
  • Feathered wrinkles around the lips
  • Sunken tear troughs
  • Smile lines

Dermal fillers are popular for cosmetic enhancements in our Paddington dental clinic among people who want to have the appearance of fuller lips or higher cheekbones.

As with anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers are temporary and can last for up to one year before retreatment becomes necessary. Side effects are minimal and can include tenderness and mild inflammation for a day or two.

Why Choose a Dentist for Cosmetic Injectables?

Your dentist spent many years mastering the knowledge of the muscle anatomy of the face, jaw, head and neck. Because your muscle function impacts your dental health, dentists are well-equipped to identify and target the appropriate muscles to improve your appearance or provide you with headache and pain relief.
